Cal Poly Mustangs
Alex G. Spanos Stadium, also known as Mustang Memorial Field, sits nestled against the scenic hillsides of San Luis Obispo. With a capacity of just over 11,000, it offers an intimate FCS atmosphere with one of the most picturesque backdrops in college football, overlooking California's Central Coast wine country.
Originally constructed in 1935 as Mustang Stadium to serve Cal Poly's growing athletic program. The facility replaced an earlier on-campus field and was designed to accommodate the university's expansion in the mid-20th century.
Home sideline (west side) offers best views of the San Luis Obispo hills and sunset lighting. Sections near midfield provide optimal sightlines. Avoid visitor side on hot afternoons due to direct sun exposure.
Arrive 2+ hours early for tailgating. Main lots are on Grand Ave and Campus Way. Street parking available on Foothill Blvd. Parking fills quickly for rivalry games vs UC Davis and Sac State.
Pre-game tailgating is family-friendly with excellent weather most fall Saturdays. Visit nearby campus attractions like the Kennedy Library. Post-game, head downtown to SLO for Thursday Night Farmers Market (if it's a Thursday) or explore Higuera Street restaurants and breweries.
