Chicago State Cougars
SeatGeek Stadium is a 20,000-seat soccer-specific stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois, about 12 miles southwest of downtown Chicago. Opened in 2006 as Toyota Park for the MLS Chicago Fire, it features a natural Kentucky bluegrass field and expands to roughly 28,000 for concerts. Beginning in 2026 it serves as the home of Chicago State football, the launch of the only NCAA Division I football program in the city of Chicago.
The stadium opened on June 11, 2006 as Toyota Park, built as a purpose-designed soccer home for Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire after years of the club playing at Soldier Field and Naperville's North Central College. The roughly $100 million venue gave Chicago its first soccer-specific stadium and was developed by the Village of Bridgeview.
As a soccer-specific stadium, SeatGeek Stadium keeps every seat close to the field with no running track separating fans from the action. The covered west-grandstand sideline offers shade and the most complete view of play; lower-bowl sideline seats near midfield are the sweet spot. Both end zones sit near the supporters' sections that gave the venue its loud reputation during Chicago Fire matches.
On-site lots ring the stadium off Harlem Avenue (Route 43) at 71st Street, with paid event parking that fills closest to kickoff. The venue sits near I-294 and I-55 (Stevenson Expressway), so arriving early eases the exit afterward. Rideshare drop-off is straightforward given the suburban setting, and the adjacent Hampton Inn & Suites is within walking distance for fans staying overnight.
SeatGeek Stadium is an intimate suburban venue rather than a sprawling college campus, so plan your day around Bridgeview and the southwest suburbs or a short trip into Chicago. Chicago State football is brand new for 2026 β the Cougars compete as an FCS Independent in their inaugural season before joining the Northeast Conference in 2027 β so traditions are still being written; come to be part of the first chapter. The complex also hosts Chicago Stars FC β the NWSL side formerly known as the Chicago Red Stars β and the North Coast Music Festival, so check the calendar when planning a visit.
