North Dakota Fighting Hawks
The Alerus Center is an indoor arena and convention center in Grand Forks, North Dakota that opened on February 10, 2001. With a football capacity of 12,283, this climate-controlled venue provides the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks with a distinct home-field advantage during brutal North Dakota winters. Located just minutes from campus and easily accessible off Interstate 29, the Alerus Center hosts not only UND football but also major concerts, sporting events, trade shows, and community gatherings year-round.
The Alerus Center was built to provide Grand Forks with a modern multi-purpose indoor facility capable of hosting UND athletics, concerts, conventions, and community events. The climate-controlled arena was especially important for football, allowing games to be played comfortably regardless of North Dakota's harsh winter conditions.
The bowl seating configuration provides good sightlines from anywhere in the arena. Lower bowl seats near midfield offer the best game experience. The indoor setting creates an intimate, loud atmosphere that intimidates visiting teams.
The Alerus Center has ample parking surrounding the facility. Located southwest of UND campus, just east of I-29 at Exit 140. Parking lots are well-lit and convenient. Arrive 90 minutes early for best spots, though the indoor venue means no weather-related delays.
Experience climate-controlled comfort regardless of outside conditions. The indoor environment creates exceptional noise levels, making it one of the toughest venues in FCS. Food and beverage options are plentiful with full arena concessions. The convention center section includes a 26,000-square-foot ballroom and meeting spaces often hosting pre-game events.
