Princeton Tigers
Powers Field at Princeton Stadium opened September 19, 1998, replacing 83-year-old Palmer Stadium in Princeton, New Jersey. Designed by Rafael Viรฑoly Architects, it seats 27,800 and is home to the Princeton Tigers, who compete in the Ivy League at the FCS level. The field was named in 2007 for William C. Powers (class of 1979), whose $10 million gift funded artificial turf installation. The current surface is AstroTurf PowerBase PRO, installed in 2025.
Built on the site of Palmer Stadium, the new stadium was constructed to replace the aging "dinosaur" and provide Princeton football with modern facilities worthy of the program's storied history. The Tigers played all 1997 games on the road during construction.
Seats between the 40-yard lines offer optimal sightlines. The press box side (west) provides shade for afternoon games. Both endzones have good student sections with energetic atmosphere.
Stadium parking lots are numbered and fill 2-3 hours before kickoff. Consider arriving early to explore campus. Parking passes sometimes required for big gamesโcheck Princeton Athletics website.
Walk through Princeton's gorgeous Gothic campus before kickoffโNassau Hall and the chapel are iconic. The stadium is modern and comfortable with excellent sightlines throughout. Post-game, Nassau Street offers dozens of dining options.
