San Diego Padres
Petco Park is the open-air home of the San Diego Padres, located in the East Village neighborhood of downtown San Diego. Opened in 2004 with a capacity of 40,209, it was designed by Populous (then HOK Sport). A notable feature is the preserved Western Metal Supply Co. building, whose southeast corner serves as the left-field foul pole. The park hosted the inaugural 2006 World Baseball Classic championship and the 2016 MLB All-Star Game. The natural surface is Bermuda grass (Latitude 36), overseeded with ryegrass.
Built to move the Padres out of the shared Qualcomm Stadium into a dedicated, state-of-the-art facility that could revitalize downtown San Diego.
Gallagher Square provides a great budget-friendly "Park at the Park" experience for families. Seating in the Western Metal Supply Co. building offers a unique historic perspective.
The San Diego Trolley (Blue, Orange, or Green lines) stops right at the stadium. If driving, use the Lexus Premier Lot, but book it weeks in advance.
Petco is known for the best food in MLB—don't miss Phil's BBQ, Hodad's Burgers, or Puesto Tacos. Visit Tony Gwynn's statue and the Padres Hall of Fame.
