Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium is the home of East Carolina Pirates football in Greenville, North Carolina. With a capacity of approximately 50,000, it is one of the largest stadiums in the American Athletic Conference and is known for its passionate Pirate fanbase and electric atmosphere on game nights.
Dedicated September 21, 1963, with a first-game 20-10 win over Wake Forest. Originally named Ficklen Stadium after James Skinner Ficklen, it was renamed Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium in 1994 to also honor former university president Leo Jenkins and benefactor Jimmy Dowdy.
The student section on the east side creates the loudest atmosphere. West side seats offer the best sightlines and shade for afternoon games. Club level and suites are on the west side.
Pirate Club lots are closest but reserved for donors. General parking is available in campus lots for $20-$30. Downtown garage shuttles offer a stress-free alternative for $5-$10.
The Pirate Walk is a must-see tradition about 3 hours before kickoff. Freeboot Fridays the night before home games feature live music at Five Points Plaza. Greenville's bar scene on 5th Street is legendary for gameday energy.
