Hampton Pirates
Armstrong Stadium is one of the oldest venues in FCS football, originally constructed in 1928 by a Hampton graduate and HU students with an initial capacity of 1,500. Now expanded to over 12,000 including standing room, the historic stadium has been the site of CIAA championships and decades of HBCU football tradition.
The stadium was built in 1928 to provide Hampton Institute (now University) with a proper football venue, constructed by William E. Lee, a graduate of Hampton's Building and Construction program, and completed by HU students.
The west (home) side offers traditional HBCU gameday atmosphere. End zone seats provide unique viewing angles. The press box side gives good overall views.
Parking available in campus lots surrounding the stadium. Hampton is located in the heart of the Hampton Roads region with easy highway access.
Armstrong Stadium offers classic HBCU football atmosphere with passionate fans, marching band performances, and rich tradition dating back nearly a century.
