Kent State
Dix Stadium is the home of Kent State Golden Flashes football in Kent, Ohio. Opened on September 13, 1969, as Memorial Stadium at a cost of $3.5 million, it was renamed in 1973 for Robert C. Dix, a longtime university trustee and former publisher of the Record-Courier. Current capacity is 25,319 following a 2007โ2008 renovation that removed the south bleachers. The field surface is FieldTurf, installed in 2005. The stadium hosted the 2001 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship.
Built for $3.5M in 1969 to replace Memorial Stadium. Originally named Memorial Stadium, it was renamed Dix Stadium in 1973.
The West stands (Home side) provide the best views and afternoon shade. For a more casual experience, the grass hills near the ends of the stadium are popular.
Stadium lots are $10 cash (East/West). Free parking is available along Summit Street with a free shuttle service to the gates. Lots open 3 hours before kickoff.
The "Flash Walk" occurs two hours before kickoff. The proximity of the field to the stands creates an intimate and loud atmosphere. Make sure to visit the "Flash Fan Zone" for pre-game festivities.
