Southern Jaguars
A. W. Mumford Stadium is a 28,500-seat venue on Southern University's campus in Baton Rougeβthe largest on-campus stadium in the SWAC. Opened in 1928 and named after College Football Hall of Fame coach Arnett "Ace" Mumford, the stadium is home to the legendary Bayou Classic rivalry.
The stadium was built in 1928 to provide a home for Southern football and honor Coach Ace Mumford, who led the Jaguars from 1936-1942 and 1944-1961 to national prominence.
As the largest on-campus SWAC stadium, all seats offer excellent views. Lower bowl mid-field seating provides the best atmosphere for Jaguars home games.
Campus parking is available throughout Southern's Baton Rouge campus. Arrive early for homecoming and rivalry games.
The Bayou Classic is one of college football's most celebrated HBCU rivalries, drawing 70,000+ fans to the Superdome each Thanksgiving weekend. The Human Jukebox marching band is a must-see at every home game.
