Elon Phoenix
Rhodes Stadium opened in 2001, ending a 92-year "road trip" for Elon football which had played home games four miles from campus since 1949. The 11,250-seat stadium was designed by Ellerbe Becket with contoured seats positioned right on top of the action, hosting four FCS playoff appearances.
The stadium was built to finally bring Elon football back to campus after decades of playing at Burlington's Williams High School Memorial Stadium four miles away. Groundbreaking occurred on March 14, 2000, with a $13 million construction cost.
Seats are contoured for comfort and positioned close to the field for an intimate atmosphere. The stadium design ensures good sightlines throughout.
Tailgaters gather outside the venue before each home game. Parking available in lots near the stadium with easy access from campus.
The Fire of the Carolinas marching band performs at each home game, providing excellent gameday atmosphere. Tailgating is popular with family and friends gathering before kickoff.
