Jackson State Tigers
Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium is a 60,000-seat venue in downtown Jackson that serves as home to the Jackson State Tigers. Opened in 1950, "The Vet" gained national prominence during Deion Sanders' tenure (2020-2022) when the Tigers drew sellout crowds of 53,000+ and won back-to-back SWAC championships.
The stadium was built in 1950 to honor Mississippi's military veterans and serve as a multi-purpose venue. It remained the state's largest stadium until 2014 and has hosted high school championships, bowl games, and college football rivalries.
Mid-field lower bowl seating offers the best sightlines. Upper deck seats provide panoramic views of downtown Jackson.
Downtown Jackson parking garages and lots surround the stadium. Arrive 2-3 hours early for rivalry games and homecoming.
Jackson State has won 18 SWAC Championships, 3 HBCU National Championships, and sent 90+ players to the NFL including 16 Pro Bowlers. The Sonic Boom of the South marching band is a highlight of every home game.
