📖About Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field

Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field holds 61,337 and is home to the famous cowbell-ringing Mississippi State fans. Named for athletic director Davis Wade and early athletics supporter Don M. Scott, it's the second-oldest Division I stadium still in use and hosts one of college football's loudest—and most ear-splitting—atmospheres.

Origins

Scott Field opened October 21, 1914 with a 41-0 win over Marion Military Institute. Originally just wooden bleachers, it was named for Olympic gold medalist Don Magruder Scott (1912 decathlete) in 1920. Renamed Davis Wade Stadium in 2014 after a $30M donation from Davis Wade.
