The Citadel Bulldogs
Johnson Hagood Stadium has been home to The Citadel Bulldogs since 1948, when it was formally dedicated during a game against Davidson College. Named for Confederate Brigadier General and South Carolina Governor Johnson Hagood (Class of 1847), this 11,500-seat stadium in Charleston has hosted two NCAA Division I-AA national championship games and made national headlines in 1999 when remains of H.L. Hunley submarine crewmen were discovered beneath the field.
Due to increasing attendance and the poor state of the previous stadium, The Citadel moved to the original Johnson Hagood Stadium in 1927. The current facility was rebuilt and formally dedicated in 1948, purchased from the city of Charleston by The Citadel in 1963.
The West Side Tower features luxury suites and club seats with excellent views. Lower bowl between the 30-yard lines offers traditional stadium seating. East side provides closer field proximity.
Parking available on campus and in nearby Charleston neighborhoods. The Citadel is located in historic Charleston, so consider parking downtown and using rideshare for games. Arrive 2-3 hours early for major games.
The Citadel Corps of Cadets add unique military pageantry to game days. Charleston's historic downtown is minutes away - explore The Battery, Rainbow Row, and historic homes before or after games. The stadium's coastal location can mean humid conditions in early season.
