William B. Greene Jr. Stadium opened in 2017, marking ETSU's triumphant return to on-campus football after a 14-year hiatus. Named for the founder of the Bank of Tennessee, this $26.6 million facility seats 7,000 with standing room for 3,000 more and has quickly become one of the FCS's most electric game day atmospheres, ranking in the top five nationally for stadium capacity percentage.
After discontinuing football in 2003 due to financial reasons, ETSU reinstated the program in 2015. The team played at Kermit Tipton Stadium until 2017, when the new Greene Stadium opened to provide an on-campus home at the foot of Buffalo Mountain for the first time since 2003.
The west side stands offer the best views with Buffalo Mountain as a backdrop. Student sections create incredible noise. Standing room areas accommodate overflow crowds for big games.
Campus lots fill quickly. Arrive 2-3 hours early. Shuttle service available from outlying lots on peak attendance games. Street parking available in nearby neighborhoods.
The stadium's location at the foot of Buffalo Mountain creates a stunning natural setting. The passionate fanbase has made Greene Stadium one of the loudest venues in the FCS. Visit downtown Johnson City before or after games for dining and entertainment.
