McNeese Cowboys
Navarre Stadium has been home to McNeese Cowboys football in Lake Charles, Louisiana since 1965, with a capacity of 17,610. Its sunken bowl design places the playing field more than 10 feet below ground level, earning it the nickname "The Hole." The artificial surface is AstroTurf Rhino Blend 46. Formerly Cowboy Stadium, it was renamed on July 23, 2025, following a 10-year, $5 million naming rights agreement with McNeese alumnus Ryan Navarre β the largest such deal in Southland Conference history. McNeese competes in the NCAA Division I FCS Southland Conference.
Constructed in 1965 to provide McNeese State with a dedicated football venue as the Cowboys program grew into a regional powerhouse.
The west side grandstand provides covered seating with the best views. Student sections create an energetic atmosphere behind the north end zone.
Stadium parking lots are accessible from multiple points around campus. Lake Charles is easy to navigate, though casino traffic can be heavy on weekends.
The Cowboys have a passionate fanbase that fills "The Ranch" for big games. The McNeese band and spirit squads add to the Southwest Louisiana game day experience.
