Lamar Cardinals
Provost Umphrey Stadium has served as the home of the Lamar Cardinals football program in Beaumont, Texas since 1964. Originally named Cardinal Stadium, it was renamed in November 2008 following a combined $4 million gift from the Provost Umphrey law firm and Walter and Sheila Umphrey. The stadium holds 16,000 after a 2010 renovation that also returned football to campus after a two-decade absence. It plays on FieldTurf Classic HD CoolPlay artificial turf and the Cardinals compete in the Southland Conference (FCS).
Built in 1964 to provide Lamar University with a dedicated football stadium as the program grew in stature and competition level.
The main grandstand offers traditional stadium seating with good elevation for field views. End zone seats provide value for budget-conscious fans.
Multiple parking lots surround the stadium. Beaumont is easy to navigate, but arrive early for rivalry games and homecoming.
The stadium serves as a community gathering point for Beaumont football fans. The Cardinals have a passionate fanbase that creates a lively atmosphere.
