Morehead State Eagles
Phil Simms Stadium, formerly known as Jayne Stadium, is a 10,000-seat venue nestled in the foothills of eastern Kentucky. Named after former Morehead State quarterback and NFL Super Bowl champion Phil Simms, this stadium combines small-town charm with proud football traditions in the heart of Appalachia.
Originally built in 1964 as Jayne Stadium, the venue was constructed to provide Morehead State University with a modern football facility. The stadium naming was announced June 23, 2025, honoring Phil Simms β Morehead State quarterback 1975-1978, OVC Player of the Year 1977, drafted 7th overall by the New York Giants in the 1979 NFL Draft, and Super Bowl XXI MVP (22-of-25, 88% completion rate).
The west side grandstand offers the best views and shade. Midfield seating provides optimal sightlines. The stadium's hillside setting creates a natural bowl with excellent acoustics and atmosphere.
Parking is available in lots surrounding the stadium off University Boulevard. Arrive 90 minutes early for best spots. The compact campus means most parking is a short walk. Additional overflow parking available at nearby campus lots.
Morehead State's small-town atmosphere creates an intimate college football experience. The eastern Kentucky setting is beautiful in fall. Visit the campus before the game and explore the town square. Tailgating is relaxed and family-friendly with strong community ties.
