Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks
Homer Bryce Stadium has been home to the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks football program since opening in 1973 in Nacogdoches, Texas. The bowl-type stadium seats 14,575, with capacity expanding to nearly 25,000 when surrounding grassy hillside areas are used. Originally called Lumberjack Stadium, it was renamed in 1986 to honor SFA benefactor Homer Bryce, who attended SFA in the 1930s and served on the Board of Regents from 1974 to 1994. The current playing surface is AstroTurf RootZone 3D3, installed in 2021.
Built in 1973 to provide Stephen F. Austin State University with a modern football facility as the program grew in the Lone Star Conference and later Southland Conference.
The main grandstand offers covered seating with good sightlines to the field. End zone sections provide budget-friendly options with still-excellent views.
Campus parking surrounds the stadium. Nacogdoches is a small college town with easy navigation, though arrive early for rivalry games.
SFA has a passionate fanbase that creates a strong home atmosphere. The Lumberjacks' purple pride fills the stadium for big Southland Conference matchups.
