Jerry Richardson Stadium opened in 2013 to launch Charlotte's FBS football program. The horseshoe-shaped venue seats 15,314 but is designed for expansion to 40,000. Named for former Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson.

Built to support Charlotte's move to FBS football. Construction approved in 2008, began April 2011. Jerry Richardson donated $10M; Hugh McColl (former BofA CEO) contributed to field naming.
