Prairie View A&M Panthers
Panther Stadium at Blackshear Field is a $60 million, 15,000-seat venue that opened in 2016 with infrastructure to expand to 30,000. The modern facility honors Prairie View A&M's storied football tradition, which includes five Black college national championships under legendary coach Billy Nicks.
Built to provide a modern home for the Panthers and enhance recruitment, the stadium was designed with expansion capabilities to accommodate Prairie View's growing fanbase. It opened with a sold-out Labor Day Classic victory over archrival Texas Southern.
The modern design offers excellent sightlines throughout. Lower bowl between the 30-yard lines provides the best gameday atmosphere.
Campus parking is ample around the new stadium. Arrive early for the Labor Day Classic against Texas Southern and homecoming.
The stadium honors legendary coach Billy Nicks, known as the "Bear Bryant" of Black college football. Nicks coached from 1945-1965 and won eight SWAC championships with a 127-39-8 record.
